BIO MASS FAQ's
No heat?
• Check temperature of buffer tank.
• Is it between 70°c and sitting around 20-30?
Check all emergency stop buttons are released
• 1 in Cabin
• 2 in Pellet Store Area
• When pellets are being delivered, the driver has to press the emergency stop. Sometimes they forget to release on completion.
If emergency stops are released:
• Check screen on both boilers
• If boilers shows as off go to BMS and turn on boiler 1 & 2 from auto to hand. This will start the boiler start-up in sequence.
If Issues Continue:
Report the issue to Contractor and discuss options with them.

Inspections of ventilation louvres are to be visually checked on a regular basis.
• If rusting is to occur on the surface ventilation louvres this must be monitored and
raised with the manufacturer in accordance to warranty conditions.
• Objects which are causing an obstruction to the free air flow for the ventilation
louvres internal or external sides must be removed.
• Ensure there is not a substantial accumulation of dust particles across the internal
face of the louvres within the plantroom.
• Any decolouring to the surface of the ventilation louvres can be painted with RAL 7016 (Anthracite Grey) to suit the current selected colour.
• External door surfaces can be washed and maintained on a monthly basis to prevent
the accumulation of fungi.

Minor or moderate personal injury
Make sure there is no system pressure on the tank before starting any work on the product.
Release all air pressure and empty all water from the tank before dismantling parts exposed
to pressure.
Maintenance Procedures (Planned)
Precharge pressure check every six months
Visual external check every five years
Checking the Precharge Pressure:
Release or add air to set the recommended precharge pressure.
1. Isolate the tank from the system.
2. Open a drain valve and drain the tank. The tank must be completely empty to
avoid that water pressure affects precharge readings.
3. Release or add air by means of the tank air valve to the desired precharge pressure. Use an air compressor to add air.
4. Reconnect the tank to the system.
Precharge Pressure above 4Bar (58psi)
To precharge the tank above 4 bar (58 psi), follow this procedure:
1. Isolate the tank from the system.
2. Drain all water from the tank. If the tank pressure is high, release air to reduce the precharge pressure to 3 bar (44 psi) before you open the drain valve.
3. Increase the precharge pressure in steps of maximum 3 bar (44 psi). After each step,
equalise the system pressure by filling water into the system.
Performing a Visual External Check:
1. Is corrosion visible?
2. Are scratches or dents visible?

Note: All checks must only be carried out by a competent person who has received the adequate training. Please
ensure all power is isolated prior to inspection of the biomass boiler.

Please note For safety reasons, maintenance must only be carried out with the main switch turned off. However first of all, the system must be switched off by means of the On/Off button and you must wait for the burnout phase. If you have to climb into the storage tank or bunker, always make sure that there
is a second person available to supervise you.

Inspections of access doors are to be visually checked on a regular basis.
• All access doors within the plantroom must be able to open and close freely without
interference.
• Any rusting or defects to the hinges must be addressed as soon as possible whether
it is replacing or lubricating the hinges.
• If rusting is to occur on the surface access doors this must be monitored and raised
with the manufacturer in accordance to warranty conditions.
• In the scenario where rusting is substantial and affecting the overall operational
performance of the door, the door must be replaced.
• Any decolouring to the surface of the access door can be painted with RAL 7016
(Anthracite Grey) to suit the current selected colour.
• Visual inspection of the door recoil spring must be tested and checked to ensure no
defects are present.
• Locks on the doors must be tested on a monthly basis to ensure they are in working
order.
• Door handles from both sides of the doors must be tested on a monthly basis to ensure they are in working order with no defaults.
• External door surfaces can be washed and maintained on a monthly basis to prevent
the accumulation of fungi.

4 - PRV-01 Pressure Relief Valve
The internal condition of safety valves should be checked at least every 12 months.
Most NABIC™ safety valves have been designed to permit internal examination and cleaning without alteration to set pressure or removal of the valve from line. Contact NABIC™ for details of this procedure.
Replacement of component parts or alteration to set pressure requires special purpose tools and should be carried out by a competent person. Only NABIC™ approved spares are to be
used. We therefore recommend valves are returned for repair or recalibration.
Steps should be taken to ensure the system has been depressurised before removing or dismantling the valve.
